What we are actually defending against

Before anything elaborate, a business needs the handful of controls that close off the ways money and data are actually lost. Here is the pairing, in plain English.

Invoice and payment fraud Someone sits quietly in a mailbox, waits for a genuine invoice to go out, and sends a copy of it with their own bank details on.
What we put in place SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up properly so your domain cannot be spoofed, and a bank-detail change rule your finance person can actually follow.
Account takeover A password that was reused on something else turns up in a breach list, and your email quietly becomes someone else's.
What we put in place Multi-factor authentication switched on across email and the systems that matter, with conditional access and a password manager behind it.
Ransomware One click encrypts the shared drive on a Tuesday morning, and the backup turns out to have been failing quietly for months.
What we put in place Backups proven by actually restoring from them, kept out of reach of the machine they are backing up, with the recovery route written down before you need it.
The device nobody owns An old laptop, a personal phone, a box in a cupboard: still logged in, still unpatched, still nobody's job.
What we put in place An inventory of every device and account with access, patching on a schedule, and joiners and leavers handled the same way every time.
The contract you cannot sign A customer or an insurer asks whether you hold Cyber Essentials, and the honest answer costs you the work.
What we put in place Cyber Essentials readiness: the gaps found, closed and evidenced before you go near the assessment.

Most businesses are not attacked because they are interesting. They are attacked because they are reachable.

The review

Start with a written picture of what you actually have

A typical engagement starts here. We go through your systems, accounts, devices and exposure, and hand you a short, prioritised, plain-English document: what you have, what is at risk, and what is worth doing first.

Remote across the UK, and on site where the work needs someone in the building. There is no charge, no obligation, and the document is yours whether you go on to work with us or not.

  3. 03
Where the risk actually sitsThe handful of findings that would genuinely hurt the business, separated from the noise that would not.

Engagement

How an engagement runs

Four stages, in this order, every time. Nothing starts before you have seen the plan and the price in writing.

  1. 01REVIEW Review The free review above. We look, we write it down, and the document is yours regardless of what happens next.
  2. 02PLAN Plan A prioritised plan and a fixed monthly price, sized to your business rather than pulled off a menu.
  3. 03PUT RIGHT Put right The urgent fixed, the risky hardened, and the basics set up properly rather than left half configured.
  4. 04RUN Run Ongoing support, monitoring and security, with one accountable point of contact and a plan revisited as the business changes.
Standing

A young firm, and open about it

Dacros is deliberately narrow: IT and cyber security for UK businesses, run as a practice rather than a shop. We are new, and we would rather you check us than take our word for anything. Anything we do not yet hold is marked that way until the day we do.

Questions

Asked most often

How much does it cost?

Every business is different, so we price per business rather than off a rigid menu. After your free review you'll get a clear, fixed monthly plan: you'll know exactly what you pay and what's included before you commit to anything.

Do you work with businesses across the UK?

Yes. Dacros works with businesses anywhere in the UK. Most of the work is done remotely, over secure tools on our own EU infrastructure, and on-site visits are arranged whenever a job needs someone in the building. We are based in Leeds.

We already have someone who does our IT. Do you replace them?

Not unless you want us to. If your IT is a helpful person who fixes what breaks but keeps everything in their head, Dacros can take it over properly: proactive monitoring, security by default, and everything written down, with one accountable point of contact. If you have an IT person or team you rely on, we work alongside them instead, taking the security controls, the monitoring, Cyber Essentials and the projects they do not have time for, documented so they can see and own all of it. The free review is where we agree which parts we take on.

Can you help us get Cyber Essentials certified?

Yes. We'll get you ready for Cyber Essentials (and Cyber Essentials Plus), which is increasingly required to win B2B and public-sector contracts and to keep your cyber insurance valid.

Where does our data actually live?

We are UK and EU-first by default: the tools we run the practice on, and the hosting we recommend, sit in the UK or the EU unless there is a clear reason otherwise, and we will say so when a supplier does not. If you are working out your own position on this, the data protection hub in the guides walks through it.
